Court throws out Jenapala's suit against PKR

The Kuala Lumpur High Court has dismissed former PKR deputy secretary-general P. Jenapala’s suit against the party over its recent elections.

The court ruled today that it did not have the jurisdiction to hear his suit.

On November 18, Jenapala had sought a court order to nullify the elections for the PKR deputy presidency post.

He had also applied for an injunction to prevent PKR from declaring the candidate elected to the post.

Jenapala further sought a declaration that he is and was a PKR member at all times.

He had claimed that a media statement issued by PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on September 20 that he had been expelled from PKR was unfounded because his membership had been verified at the party headquarters on September 17.

He further claimed that he was never informed by the party as to the termination of his membership or any disciplinary action taken against him.

Jenapala, who was the PKR deputy secretary-general since early 2008 until his resignation by oral statement in December 2008, had also expressed his wish to run for No. 2 on September 17 this year.

In his suit, Jenapala had named PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, her deputy Dr Syed Husin Ali and Saifuddin as defendants.

The court, however, dismissed his suit with costs of RM15,000.
