Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran Fails to Retain Perak DAP Deputy Chief Post

Perak DAP deputy chairman M. Kulasegaran today failed to retain his post at the state party election held in conjunction with its convention, here.

Besides that, only one of his supporters, the Perak DAP treasurer and Jalong assemblyman Leong Mee Meng was elected to the 15-member state committee. There were 15 candidates contesting for the committee posts.

Kulasegaran who is also Ipoh Barat Member of Parliament was, however, appointed one of the Perak DAP vice-chairmen.

Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Hoo Kam retained his post, while Ngeh's cousin and Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming also retained his post.

Tronoh assemblyman and former Perak Speaker under the Pakatan Rakyat state government was voted in as the new Perak DAP deputy chairman.

A total of 961 delegates voted in the election held at a hotel here. The number should have been 1,228.

Ngeh, who is also Sitiawan assemblyman, said the new state committee agreed to set up six new bureaus to improve services to the people.

The six bureaus are medical services, water, legal aid, economic development, consumer affairs and social welfare.
