PM's Chicken Pox : Side Effects

By Syed Akbar Ali

I am glad the PM is back at work. We wish the PM good health and good physical fitness. It is terrible to be sick with anything. There is however an interesting side effect from the PM's recent hospital visit.

Najib returns to work, Cabinet approves RM5mil 'gift' for KL Hospital

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak resumed work after a bout of chicken pox, chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting which approved RM5mil to upgrade the facilities at the intensive care unit of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH). He said he saw for himself the dilapidated condition of the unit while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The PM saw for himself the dilapidated condition of the ICU and so the Cabinet immediately made a "gift" of RM5.0 million to upgrade the ICU. First of all how can the Cabinet make a gift of anything? It is taxpayers funds. And the recipient is also a Government Department.

But the question is what happened to Pemandu, Pemudah, Idris Jala, ETP, GTP and what not? Why does it take a PM to be admitted to the ICU before it is recognised that the ICU is dilapidated?

Where is the Minister of Health Liow Tiong Lai? The Ministry possibly has a multi billion Ringgit allocation under the Budget.

In the present scheme of things where Rais Yatim still cannot give a clear explanation how the RM4 billion tax payer's funds were blown by the MCMC or Ng Yen Yen's blowing off RM3.0 million of taxpayer's funds on a junkie overseas holiday trip with her husband in tow, RM5.0 million is peanuts.

So Liow Tiong Lai, itu duit semua mana pergi? And what about say the ICU at the Taiping Hospital or the Kota Bharu Hospital? Are Pak Ismail and Mr Gurusamy getting good treatment there?

What happened to "people first, performance now" ? We cannot rule the country by ad hoc decision making or fire fighting. We need consistent workable policies and reliable implementation.

I may be getting rashes. Its not chicken pox though. It could be an allergic reaction.
