Dr Lim, 91, was admitted to the hospital on Oct 26 after he was believed to have had a stroke.
It was reported that there had not been much change in Dr Lim's condition and he was still unconscious since his admission to hospital.
"However, Dr Lim's heart and respiratory system were reported to be stable and he was still receiving treatment at the ward," Dr Ng told reporters after visiting Dr Lim, here Friday.
Dr Ng, who is also an MCA vice-president, arrived at the hospital together with Penang Chief Police Officer Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob at 6.40pm and spent about 20 minutes at the ward.
Among national leaders who had visited Dr Lim at the hospital were former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Singapore's Foreign Minister George Yeo and former transport minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.
Dr Lim had served as Penang's second chief minister for 21 years from May 1969 until October 1990.
He had also served as MCA president before leaving the party and becoming Gerakan president for nine years beginning 1971.
Under his leadership, Gerakan joined the Barisan Nasional (BN) in 1972. - BERNAMA
