Pakatan fans march in support of Selangor Sultan

KLANG, Jan 21 — Some 200 Pakatan Rakyat (PR) supporters staged a march from the Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque to the Alam Shah palace here today to express their loyalty to the Selangor Sultan.

The event had been organised to express the group’s support for the PR Selangor administration over the ongoing state secretary impasse.

“We want to say that the real traitors are Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders,” PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin told the crowd surrounded by police officers at the palace today.

Umno accused Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim yesterday of committing treason for attempting to amend the state constitution to recover powers to appoint the state’s top civil servants.

Khalid’s administration has challenged Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi’s January 1 installation as Selangor state secretary by the federal government, insisting that the MB had not been consulted over the appointment.
