Khusrin is part of the team, says Khalid

Khalid said the media should focus on more important matters rather than the oath of secrecy ceremony.

SHAH ALAM, Feb 13 – The media should focus on more important issues, that is Selangor state secretary, Datuk Mohd Khusrin Munawi’s ability to aid the state government in carrying out its policies, and not just the oath of secrecy ceremony, said Selangor mentri besar, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim today.

“The oath of secrecy ceremony will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines and all parties involved need not harbour any reservations.

“Mohd Khusrin is part of our team already and has been tasked with carrying out state policy from time to time, that’s a more important consideration” he said.

Speaking to reporters while launching a youth development course near here today, the Selangor mentri besar said the state government had rearranged the format of weekly state Exco meetings to expedite the oath-taking ceremony.

Khusrin’s tenure began on a controversial note when Khalid questioned its validity because he had not received any prior notification of the appointment. In the end, the Selangor MB accepted the appointment that had received the blessing of the Selangor sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, Khalid said he will write once more to the home minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, to request that the ministry re-consider the state government’s suggestion that an auxiliary police team be set up, despite having been rejected previously.

He said a study conducted by the state government showed that the majority of housewives residing in crime-prone neighbourhoods do not feel safe and that they want an auxiliary police team to aid the police in crime prevention.

“The state government through local councils will bear all costs related to helping the auxiliary police, but this would be a temporary measure only,” he said. – Bernama
