He said the allocation was approved at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Sabah and Sarawak Bumiputeras chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on February 7.
Dompok, who is chairman of the Technical Committee for Sabah and Sarawak Bumiputeras, said the RM60 million would be used for the construction of a Sabah native court building and to upgrade and build native court premises in four residencies in the state.
“The RM60-million allocation is part of the RM100 million preliminary allocation for various special programmes for Sabah bumiputeras under the rolling plan of the 10th Malaysia Plan,” he told reporters after launching a mobile clinic of the Penampang Health Clinic, here.
The remaining RM40 million for other programmes include social projects proposed by the Sabah government to enhance the living standards of Sabah bumiputeras, he said.
Dompok, who is also president of the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko), said Upko had proposed the upgrading of the native court institution to the level of those of the civil and syariah courts.
He said it is hoped that the establishment of the institution of the Sabah native court would enhance the effectiveness of the court system and the capability of the judges and the district chiefs. — Bernama
