Sodomy II: Defence continues grilling former HKL doc

Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial continues today with the cross-examination of former head of HKL's Accident and Emergency Unit Dr Khairul Nizam Hassan.

Dr Khairul Nizam, who now serves at Putrajaya Hospital, was the person responsible in conducting the physical examination on complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

On Monday, he testified that he took samples from Saiful's mouth as the former political aide claimed he was forced to perform oral sex.

Another HKL doctor forensic pathologist Dr Siew Shueu Feng was also quizzed on Monday over several inconsistencies in his statement and medical report.

Should Dr Khairul Nizam finish his testimony today, a new witness would be called. It remains to be seen who will be called to take the stand. It could be chemist Dr Seah Lay Hong, the person who tested the DNA evidence from the case.

Today's trial has attracted the attendance of a number of representatives from the foreign missions, including Canada and Ireland.

Also present today in court are Anwar's forensic expert Dr David Wells and DNA specialist Dr Brian McDonald.
