“Woe, then, to those who write the book with their hands and then say: This is from God, so that they may take for it a small price; therefore woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn” – Surah 2 verse 79 of the Holy Qur’an.
Dr Mahathir would do well to heed this warning from the Holy Qur’an.
In his ‘Melayu oh Melayu’ post, Dr M sinks to a new low by trying to justify his racist posturing by a reference to the Holy Qur’an.
“Kenapakah kita berbangsa-bangsa? Al-Quran menyebut yang kita manusia terdiri daripada berbagai-bagai bangsa. Jika bangsa adalah sesuatu yang bertentangan dengan ajaran Islam, tentu sekali Tuhan tidak akan menjadikan manusia berbagai bangsa”, he postulates.
Now, ‘bangsa’, as I understand it, means ‘ nationality, and not race. ‘Keturunan’, in my view, means race.
Hence, ‘Bahasa Kebangsaan’ means national language and not ‘race language’.
And Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan means National Type Secondary School and not ‘race school’.
Contrary to what Dr Mahathir says, there is nothing in the Holy Qur’an that supports his infamous racist stance.
“…Have you any knowledge with you? If so, will you bring it forth? You only conjecture and you only tell lies” – Surah 6 verse 148 of the Holy Qur’an.
I challenge Dr Mahathir to make specific reference to the verses in the Holy Qur’an that support his contention. - People's Parliament
