PKR de facto leader Anwar, who denies being the man in the video, accused the prime minister and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein of being involved in the matter which surfaced on Monday.
“I urge the prime minister himself to respond to reports from sources that the three masterminds had met with him in his office in Parliament.
“This raise serious questions over the involvement of government leaders in the recording and screening of the sex video that clearly violates several laws,” said PKR communications director Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
Former Malacca Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik admitted yesterday that businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay, Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuib Lazim and himself were collectively the mysterious “Datuk T” behind the 21-minute sex video.
In a press statement today, the Seri Setia assemblyman said that PKR had been informed that Najib had chaired an Umno political bureau meeting yesterday evening, the same time the trio were seen in Parliament.
He said that the government’s reluctance to take stern action on those involved only strengthened the perception that it was involved in the conspiracy, as with the sodomy allegations in 1998 against Anwar, whose conviction was eventually overturned in 2004.
“To clear his name and Umno’s, the prime minister must make an immediate statement on what was discussed with the three masterminds of the sex video that has brought shame to Malaysia,” Nik Nazmi added.
Abdul Rahim also claimed yesterday that PKR Sungai Petani MP Datuk Johari Abdul had demanded money to defect after the latter was shown the video on Monday afternoon.
Johari, however, accused Abdul Rahim and Shazryl of attempting to entice him and other PKR MPs to defect after he had viewed the recording, which he said was of a person who only vaguely resembled Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to Johari, Abdul Rahim had also promised to bring him to see Najib after he had viewed the sex video. - Malaysian Insider
