Lenggeng assemblyman Mustafa Salim has been jailed three years for accepting a RM2,000 bribe from a contractor as an inducement to issue a supporting letter to mine sand more than two years ago.
Sessions judge Amran Jantan also fined Mustafa RM20,000 for the offence.
The court had found Mustafa, 51, a first-term assemblyman, guilty for the offence on March 3.
His defence team has applied for a stay of execution pending appeal. Judge Amran sets bail at RM10,000.
