KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 — The daughter of Datuk Seri Najib Razak was today betrothed to her college sweetheart in a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s residence in Putrajaya.
Nooryana Najwa and fiancé Daniyar Nazarbayev exchanged their engagement vows in a grand ceremony attended by family, friends, diplomats and royalty.
The couple, both aged 22, had met while studying in the United States, where Nooryana attended Georgetown University in Washington, while Nazarbayev went to Columbia University in New York.
Gracing the ceremony today were Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah and the Sultanah of Pahang Hajah Kalsom, Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Abdullah and Raja Muda of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah.
Also present was Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed Zayed Al Nahyan, who arrived today for a state visit, and wife Sheikha Salam Hamdan Al Nahyan.
