THE JALAN Buyai off Jalan Koidupan in Penampang near Nossob is very bad and almost impassible to smaller vehicles in and out of the kampongs here. The people here requested the Sabah DAP to get help from the Penampang District Council or the Rural Development department to immediately to come to upgrade and repair the terrible access road to their kampongs.
Sabah DAP Kapayan Branch chairman Stephen Jimbangan went on site to view the degree of damages to the road here and found that it is true that the road is totally cracked up and very difficult for the small vehicles to pass through. The edges of the road are all damaged and forming deep depressions on both sides of the road. This is especially bad at the entry point at the junction turning in from the Jalan Koidupan.
Stephen said the road was constructed many years ago and had never been maintained and upgraded until now. The road is only of a short length of 1,500 feet long and 8 feet wide, how come the seriously damaged portion of 60 feet cannot be repaired by the authorities immediately?
There are in fact many other roads in the Penampang needed attention. Stephen urges the authorities to constantly survey the area and act on public complaints immediately. He said he is sure some of the council and government officers are also affected by the bad roads.
