“BN Penang and (Gerakan state chief) Teng Hock Nan's three lies that the Penang Pakatan government had approved Berjaya Development Corp's plans for Penang Hill will not stop the printing of pamphlets to expose BN's refusal to come clean on the RM40 million Tang Hak Ju land scams, RM30 million Pulau Jerejak scandal and Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Perai (MPSP) RM230 million loss scandal,” said Lim in a statement today.
“This public campaign will also exert pressure on BN to return as much as possible of the money lost to the people of Penang,” he added.
Lim (left) denied Teng's claims that the Pakatan government was planning to allow Berjaya to develop the hill, a popular tourist spot and a green lung for Georgetown, claims that were rattling the island's residents who are adamant that the natural environment of the hill should be preserved.
“I wish to reiterate that the Penang government has never approved any project from Berjaya Corp to develop Penang Hill.
“Berjaya had not even sent any proposal to develop Penang Hill to the present state government.
“All projects on Penang Hill are carried out individually under open tender.
“Neither has the Berjaya group even bid for any of the three development projects carried out by open public tender, namely Craig Hotel, the hawker complex and the canopy walk,” said the CM.
Lies, lies, lies
Lim, who is also DAP secretary general, blasted Teng for “lying” thrice about the Penang Hill issue.
He said Teng (right) had on August 26 alleged Pakatan was planning to revive Berjaya's original plan to develop the hill, while when challenged to prove his claims, made an about turn on Aug 29 saying he had made no such claims.
“There is now the newest third lie by Teng that I had held secret meetings with Berjaya on reviving their original plans for the development of Penang Hill,” said Lim.
He said the Pakatan government will not be distracted from continuing its awareness campaign to educate the public on the BN scandals through pamphlet distribution.
“This public campaign will also exert pressure on BN to return as much as possible of the money lost to the people of Penang,” he said.
Lim blamed the state BN's continued audacity in spreading misinformation, foremost on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission(MACC), for failing to act on the report that the state government had lodged on the RM40 million Tang Hak Ju land scam.
Dr.Teng Hock Nan truthfully does not know whatever he says is incorrect. Therefore as far as he is concerned he is not lieng. The other people who hear him can know and differntiate between the truth and the lie.
