Najib's speech inspirational, say students in Perth

Inspirational. That's how Malaysian students here described Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's speech, in Perth last night, in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebrations.

Najib was in Perth there during the holiday break to receive specialist physiotherapy for his recently-operated knee. He was accompanied by his wife, Rosmah Mansor.

The students said they now had a better understanding of 1Malaysia and Najib's vision for a prosperous future.

"It was awesome to hear our prime minister speak, and he was impressive," said Lim Jian Min, from Kedah.

"He lifted our spirits and gave good answers to all our questions," said the Curtin University student.

Farida Hazwani Mohd Ridzuan, another Curtin University student, from Bangi, Selangor said: "I'm sure all students enjoyed the excellent opportunity to meet our leader, and it was a good chance to show our Malaysian spirit to mix freely and enjoy good company during the Hari Raya."

Jalong Eranz from Kuching said he was heartened to hear Najib say Malaysia was striving hard to offer international wages and conditions.

"This will be a massive incentive for me to work in Malaysia and it will surely help stop the brain-drain," he said.

Nurul Izyah Abdullah said Najib had motivated her to study hard and contribute to Malaysia's development and nation building.
Hamad Hisham Zainal Abidin from Ipoh said it was fantastic to hear Najib explain 1Malaysia and "his vision for our great country".

Malaysian Consul-General Hamidah Ashari told the prime minister that she had heard nothing but good reports about Malaysian students from the various universties in Western Australia.

"Our students are hard working, well-behaved and always show respect to authorities," she said.
