KOTA KINABALU MINIPUTRAJAYA CONTINUOUS BREAKING DOWN

BROKEN…..Edward showing the broken up car park floor tiles.
THE NEWLY built Kota Kinabalu Federal Administration Building in Likas is having continuous problems in many parts of the building especially on the tiling works both on the walls, floors and the car parking areas just after a few years of occupation.
The people here had complained to Sabah DAP Vice chairman Edward Ewol Mujie that they wanted the matter to be brought up. They queried why such a new building already there is a major problem in the wall surface where the entire wall tiling was removed and replaced with some metal surface cladding.
The other problem now surfaced is the continuous stripping off and breaking up of the floor tiles which created a dangerous walking surface where people can fall if not careful.
During the inspection by the DAP, it is noticed that the car park and drive way in the middle of this complex has already broken up with plenty of tiles missing. The whole area is filled with pot holes.
The floor tiles in the building especially in the canteen are having the similar problems where large areas of the floor tiles are pooping up already. It is dangerous and not comfortable to walk on these loose tiles. Some bad areas have been covered up by the use of carpets and plastic sheets.
Edward called upon the JKR and the relevant authority to immediately to inspect and put up plans to make good all these before someone is hurt. The building is having other problems and these must be put right too.
It will be interesting to see who should be responsible for all these bad design and workmanship. There is no doubt that the job was done badly, and that is why we got all these problems today. The contractor’s maintenance period must be well over now, and in fact we should get him to redo all these bad jobs.
We felt that our tax payer’s money had not been spent correctly and wisely, and this case is a solid proof. Who is going to pay for these repairs or redo works, and why the work was not done properly or without good supervision?
There should be a through investigation and the Audit General department should come to make an audit report concerning the bad workmanship here. We should not pay more for someone’s mistake and bad workmanship. A building of this size and class must be a building built to last and not problems after problems.
