PM Najib pledges to improve Selangor if BN takes over

SHAH ALAM: Many problems faced by the people in Selangor under the Pakatan Rakyat government can be resolved if Barisan Nasional takes over the administration, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.
He said that after four years of administering the state since the 2008 general election, the opposition coalition had yet to fulfill the pledges made which had resulted in some of the people becoming frustrated.
Najib said this in his speech at the programme 'Sepetang Bersama Perdana Menteri' (An Evening With The Prime Minister) at the Rimba Jaya Flats, in conjunction with his visit to the Selangor state under the 'Love Selangor, Trust BN' campaign.

During his visit to PKNS complex, Najib expressed shock at the rental hike at the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) complex.
He said it was unfair for the state government to raise rental rates, especially since business there was lukewarm.
PKNS tenants' chairman Arman Yahya, in his speech earlier, appealed to the Federal Government to take over administration of the complex.
To this, Najib remarked: “It would be so much easier for us to just take over the state. I am eating sweet potatoes now to remind me of the Japanese era during World War Two. I hope next time I will be eating nasi minyak' as a sign that business has improved.”
Saying that he could not bear to see the tenants suffer, Najib pledged to raise the matter with tourism officials to help transform the complex into a major attraction in the state.
According to PKNS, the tenants were notified in September about the hike in rentals from Jan 1.
Najib later visited residents at the Taman Rimba Jaya flats where he promised allocations to build a surau and a Hindu temple.
Earlier in the day, Najib attended a closed-door meeting with Barisan Nasional grassroots at Intekma Resort.
