Even after the huge Himpunan Hijau 2.0 anti-Lynas rally and the constant calls of the people of Kuantan to shut down the rare earth refinery in Gebeng, Prime Minister Najib Razak is determined to turn a deaf ear.
This is a not caring government, they don't have a People First policy, they will only protect the rich and mighty and the corrupt and corruptible. There is no purpose for the Lynas plant in Malaysia, they will only employ a mere 700 persons but endanger millions in and around the area and the icing on the cake is they get free stay for 15 years tax free?
Which country in their right minds will want to process another country's radioactive material and endanger its citizens for the benefit of a foreign country, which is a continent with a vast land area. Australia has 7,682,300 square kilometers - 20 times the size of Malaysia, which is a mere 329,758 square kilometers. Australia also has a population of about 20 million versus Malaysia's 28 million and yet, it feels it is not right to have a radioactive processing plant.
Money? And for whom?
But not our complacent Najib Razak. His government is fighting tooth and nail with the people to activate a radioactive processing plant that may contaminate Malaysia with harmful substances. Why? Money? For whom? Is this stupidity? Yes!
The irony is the world is saying it is not safe, but here the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of the State of Pahang have given the go-ahead and a thumbs-up for the project. The Chief Minister Adnan Yaakob even suggested we could bury the radioactive waste in the Sungei Lembing mines. If he is really sincere and caring for the rakyat(people) he should prove that it is safe to live around the Sungei Lembing mines after it is filled with radioactive waste by building his house there. Don't worry about money, we can pool together a rakyat's collection and build a mansion for him to stay there!
Rakyat have the right to say NO!
Over in Australia, the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and anti-nuclear alliance of Western Australia (ANAWA) are trying to halt plans for the export of rare earth concentrate to Malaysia, not because they want to protect Malaysia but because they are worried of exposure during transportation of the radioactive materials from Mount Weld to Fremantle Port.
They are concerned for their people, unlike the Malaysian authorities. Why, Oh WHY do we have harebrained people making bad decisions for us?
As a Malaysian' I say Lynas must be shut down if Barisan Nasional wants to govern Malaysia for another term. We as citizens of this country have every right to put a stop to Lynas operating in Malaysia.
We say to No' to Barisan Nasional for the sake of our brothers in Kuantan and Yes' to Pakatan to make sure Lynas is shut down completely - the ball is at your feet Rakyat Malaysia!
