Face-off between Perkasa and Jingga 13 at Komtar

A group of Perkasa members today set fire to a box containing yellow Bersih T-shirts in front of Komtar today after Friday prayers.

Penang Perkasa Youth chief Risuad Azuddin said he had received the box on Monday night, when it was placed anonymously outside his office door.

Risuad said the box contained 10 yellow Bersih T-shirts and a two-page poison pen letter from an unidentified person, who had requested that Perkasa burnt the shirts in public to express his disappointment with the movement.

“I believe the person is a member of Pakatan Rakyat. In the letter, he said he had been promised money by Bersih but had felt cheated by the movement,” Risuad told reporters after he set fire to the box.

“The person said Bersih is out to topple the government and that he had been asked, as a participant at the sit-in at Dataran Merdeka on April 28, to act aggressively and create chaos,” he added.

As Risuad was speaking, he was interrupted by a group of pro-Pakatan Jingga 13 members, who condemned Perkasa’s stunt, asking the group to stop their violent actions.

Jingga 13 state chairperson Mohammad Ikhwan Nasser told Risuad that his group was indulging in “politik samseng”.

“We are both Malays. Don’t act like gangsters,” said Mohammad Ikhwan in a very calm manner.

NONERisuad (with loudhailer) shot back by denying that he was behaving in a violent manner, saying, “(Why don’t you ask) if my demands for the betterment of the Malay community has been responded to by the state government?”

The face-off continued with Mohammad Ikhwan detailing what Perkasa has done against Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, the latest being conducting a Hindu funeral rite to symbolise him as being dead to the Malay community in front of his home.
Risuad replied by asking the Jingga 13 leader to think about the Bersih rally in Kuala Lumpur, which had left scores injured and journalists allegedly beaten up by police.

When Mohammad Ikhwan replied that he was referring to Penang, Risuad said, “That’s because you have choses a chief minister who is stupid. You (Jingga 13) do not fight for the people’s rights. We in Perkasa are not doing this for our own interest.”

After several minutes, state PKR Youth chief Amir Ghazali intervened and told Risuad to continue his speech.
Perkasa merely wanted to 'rally peacefully'

Risuad said Jingga 13 appeared merely to disrupt Perkasa’s activities, denying that he had planned to create chaos in front of Komtar, adding that the group merely wanted to “rally peacefully”.

“If they are really interested in fighting for the people, they should go to the CM and ask him why our demands have never been met,” he added.

Meanwhile, Risuad also condemned DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh for his statement in Utusan Malaysia, which quoted him as allegedly saying he wanted a non-Malay prime minister.

Risuad said he had always known that DAP was a “racist party”, and that Karpal was “insane” (tak waras).

“Instead of fighting for what is right for all communities, the DAP is playing with racial issues. They want the Chinese vote, but the Chinese are now brilliant. We hope the people would think carefully before throwing their votes at this coming general election.”

Risuad also took a swipe at Lim, urging him to take legal action against an anonymous blog which accused him of having an extramarital affair.

“He is accused of being involved in a moral issue. He should sue the blog to clear his name.”
