Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said he was "not sure" about the alleged infiltration of communists and terrorists into Pakatan Rakyat, according to a news report.
"I don’t have the relevant information (about the issue) at the present moment. Therefore, I cannot say whether it is true or not.
"I can only say this much, this topic is very sensitive," Hishammuddin was quoted saying in an online Sinchew Daily report today.
He was commenting on a Bernama article where Special Branch's assistant director of the E2 (M) national social extremist threat division head Mohd Sofian Md Makinuddin had claimed that Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terrorists and former communists are infiltrating the opposition coalition.
"The information may have come from international organisations. We cannot reveal this until investigations are finished,” said Hishammuddin (left).
He was speaking to reporters after attending a briefing by the Selangor police headquarters today, according to the Chinese daily.
"It is the duty of the police in combatting terrorism in this world without borders. The Home Ministry is now monitoring the situation, and that is under control," he added.
DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang today slammed the claim as a "political joke" cooked up by an allegedly "desperate" BN.
DAP chairperson Karpal Singh meanwhile challenged the policeSpecial Branch to name those alleged communists and JI member.
"This is merely an underhand tactic to undermine the opposition coalition," he said when met, ironically, after his sedition charge proceedings at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today.
