hief Assistant Director of E2 (M) Sofian Makinuddin has again derided opposition parties PAS, DAP and PKR.
KUCHING: Controversial senior Special Branch (SB) officer SAC Mohd Sofian Makinuddin has once again stirred the hornets’ nest and this time 1,000 people or more who gathered at a forum here heard him “order” Sarawakians to vote for a “party that can provide security”.
Sofian, who is the Chief Assistant Director of E2 (M), told the crowd that “in the coming general election, you should know which party to vote for, especially the party that can provide security.”
Said Sofian: “The Pakatan Rakyat is made up of DAP, which is a Chinese chauvinistic party, PAS which wants to establish an Islamic state, and PKR which is a party ‘buka depan, buka belakang, semua boleh jadi’.”
Many opposition leaders, who attended the forum titled “The impact of transformation programme on security” organised by the Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association, were aghast at Sofian’s audacity.
Sofian also said that there were threats coming from the opposition parties and showed video clips featuring some of the opposition leaders who were involved in the Bersih 3.0 demonstrations.
“Do you want these demonstrations to happen to Malaysia?” he asked the crowd which included grassroots leaders from 16 non-governmental organisations.
Commenting on his remarks, Sarawak PKR vice-president See Chee How said the initially stunned crowd demanded that Sofian show proof of his allegations.
Sofian had made similar allegations earlier this month and the opposition immediately called for him to show evidence of his claims that communist had infiltrated the opposition parties.
“He [Sofian] was asked to furnish evidence of his allegations [in KL] but he kept quiet.
“Now he spreads the same lies here. If he wants to be involved in politics, he better resigns from his post and contest.
“Civil servants should be neutral and not take side. But this is a clear proof that [Prime Minister] Najib (Tun Razak) and BN are using the administration and the institution for their selfish political party interest in the coming election.
“It is sad that senior officer like Sofian should stoop so low and be made use of by BN,” said See, who is Batu Lintang MP.
