‘I’ve video of Anwar backbiting PAS’

The former Kita leader insists that the video exposes the opposition leader’s hypocrisy even if it was taken even before the Pakatan alliance was formed.
VIDEO INSIDE
PETALING JAYA: Another video allegedly featuring Anwar Ibrahim has surfaced, but this one has nothing to do with sex.
Former Kedah Kita leader Zamil Ibrahim said today that he would soon release a video proving the opposition leader’s hypocrisy in his relationship with PAS.
He told a press conference that the video, shot on Jan 9, 2008, was a record of discussions between Anwar and northern zone PKR leaders Zamri Yusof, B Kalaivanar and Wan Salleh Wan Isa.
He said Anwar lashed out at PAS for demanding too many seats to contest in the 2008 general election, which was held on March 8.
“Anwar said, ‘Indians don’t support PAS, Chinese people don’t suppose PAS; only Malays in villages support PAS. They are afraid to vote for PAS,’” said Zamil, reading from a script.
Although he waved a gold CD before the press, saying it contained the video, he did not show any clip. He said he would do so “in the near future”.
To a reporter’s suggestion that the video might no longer be relevant because it was shot before Pakatan Rakyat was formed, he said: “The issue still stands today. Until today they are still a fragile alliance.”
He said the video was evidence of Anwar’s dishonesty. “He bad mouths his alliance members but acts friendly when he is in front of them.”
He said he would ask Anwar to admit making the statement against PAS and to explain why he did so.
More videos to be revealed
Zamil is himself the subject of a video being released by PAS in stages. A few weeks ago, he admitted being the person featured in a clip from the video. Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad referred to the person as a BN agent trying to buy over PKR MPs.
Referring to that issue, Zamil told reporters today that he had obtained videos showing eight PKR assemblymen and MPs expressing willingness to jump ship in return for money.
“I have eight CDs with eight different people who are willing to leave the party,” he said, adding these videos too would be released later.
He said he could outdo Khalid by revealing that more PKR men were deeply disgruntled with the party.

He added that these PKR members were afraid that they would not be fielded as candidates in the coming general election.
Zamil also challenged former Bank Negara assistant governor Abdul Murad Khalid to explain to the public whether he played a role in shifting RM500 and RM1,000 notes abroad in the late 1990s.
“He should explain who was involved in giving the instruction. Some of us are aware that the money is still stashed in foreign countries.”
Detractors of Anwar have often alleged that the former deputy prime minister stashed RM13 billion worth of RM500 and RM1,000 notes in foreign bank accounts and that this prompted former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to stop production of those notes.
