LOCAL GOVERNMENT ANTIQUE LAW

THE PROPOSAL to upgrade and amend the Sabah Local Government By-Laws, Enactments, and the Ordinances were not even being mentioned in the State Assembly sitting recently.

This comes as a surprise and disappointment to all because this was specifically brought up by the Assistant Minister Datuk Edward Yong Ooi Fah previously in the newspaper that the government will submit to amend and upgrade the outdated By-laws, Enactments and ordinances in the July assembly sitting.
This amendment is required to replace the outdated sets of rules and laws, and this amendment actually is much needed in the present day to facilitate and to bring about modern town planning, building construction in the development sectors.

This will also enhance and improve our living quality and its environment, and to minimize the associated problems brought along by rapid development especially in the major towns and cities.

The old sets of rules and laws are no longer equiped to cope with the matters arising nowadays and it is high time that the Sabah Government is to look into amending the various acts.

The two and a half days of the State Assembly sitting is just aiming to get through to pass the supplementary bill of approving a sum of RM430 million for the use of the government and to pass the KK water front bill.

The question is why there are so many pressing issues were not brought up and yet there is no mention in anyway. The amendment and upgrading of the Local Government laws is a typical example, although it was confirmed by the Assistant Minister that the amendments to the particular Acts will be put forward in the July sitting.

This was not being given a chance at all and this reflects the inability of the people who are in charge, and it shows the inefficiency in executing their entrusted role to discharge their duties towards the people. We know that it is important but they just don’t want to do it.

The question now is why a state assembly sitting just lasted a few days, and yet there are so many other things to be discussed, like upgrading our state laws, enactments, and ordinances. The one thing we know is that the BN government in Sabah may be interesting to get the RM430 million out and get ready for the incoming general election.

The BN Sabah Government has failed the people of Sabah for many counts, and this is another example to prove that they do not put the people’s interest in the first position. The type of slack attitude and manner towards the important matters which is affecting everyone in Sabah is not even being taken as priority, and who can we entrust them to continue to run our state government.

They have failed the people in many ways like, poverty, no industry, bad infrastructure, low tourism development, high influx of illegal immigrants, rapid growth of population, low job opportunities, brain drains, and bad economy etc. (DAP Media).

Jelas Sabah masih menghadapi masalah yang masih belum diselesaikan. Semoga pihak berkuasa mencari formula untuk memperbaiki status Sabah.

  4. Undang-undang manusia yang buat. Maka perlu ikut peredaran masa juga mengenai undang-undang. Pasti berlaku pelbagai perubahan penambahbaikkan.
