The Obedient Wives Club (OWC) courted controversy as soon as it was launched in mid-2011, along with its oddly named sex guide book, ‘Fighting Against Jews to Return Islamic Sex to the World'.
Predictably, the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) bannedthe book, even though it was meant exclusively for club members.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mashitah Ibrahimsaid the sex guide sent the wrong message to Muslim wives on what actually constitutes obedience to their husbands.
Almost a year after its establishment, OWC returns with yet another sex guidebook, titled 'The Holy Spirit and Holy Islamic Sex Booklet'.

Almost a year after its establishment, OWC returns with yet another sex guidebook, titled 'The Holy Spirit and Holy Islamic Sex Booklet'.
This time, it is for sale to members of the public - and most likely, it will soon be banned.
In an interview withMalaysiakini, OWC spokesperson Fauziah Ariffin denied that the club was set up to recruit members for Global Ikhwan Sdn Bhd, previously the Al-Arqam movement that is widely known as a religious cult.
According to Fauziah, the club never considered recruiting members, but is primarily focused on promoting ‘Islamic holy sex' among its current members.

Since OWC was launched, she said, the club has about 3,000 members - 2,000 of who are from Malaysia, with the rest from other countries.
"It is not the membership size that is important, but the fact that they practise it (Islamic holy sex), because of God," she said.
'Adam needs entertainment'
Asked to explain the meaning of ‘Islamic holy sex', Fauziah did not go into details but stressed that a key objective in the creation of women was to complement men, just as Eve was a delight to Adam.
"Adam needed entertainment from Eve," said Fauziah.
She cited examples of world leaders who were known to have mistresses "for their pleasure".
According to Fauziah, a faithful wife must ‘entertain' her husband to help him find release from his many daily responsibilities.
"It is widely known that when a wife does not please her husband, he will keep mistresses and do evil deeds. This happens even with the world's most powerful leaders," she cautioned.
Besides entertaining their husbands, Fauziah said, women have great powers over men because they are capable of ‘charming' them.
"Allah created women as very gentle creatures and they possess characteristics that allow them to seduce men.
"We can see why world leaders are often influenced by women. It does not matter if we take non-Muslims as examples - all leaders have their women behind them."

Another example she offered was Siti Khadijah, the first person to soothe Prophet Muhammad when he first received the revelation from Allah.
Priority for career women
Fauziah stressed that working women should also obey their husbands and prioritise entertaining them.
"Even if she has a career, it should come second. What should be the first?" she asked without waiting for an answer.
"This is what we are trying to teach society - to understand God's designs."
Fauziah also said men would be gentle when their wives treated them well and that some husbands with years of marital issues had thanked the club for helping to solve their problems.
"The husbands tell us that they can now feel their wives understand their needs, and their gentleness and passion have softened their hearts," she added.
