- Green Technology, Energy and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin announced the formation of a special Cabinet Committee has been set up to discuss the looming water crisis faced by Selangor. The committee is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and includes Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Datuk Seri Idris Jala, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik, and Peter Chin.
- The BN politicians continue to play politics on water in Selangor. The media reports clearly giving an impression that water crisis is looming i.e. perhaps very soon. The next issue is why forms a committee of politicians? Noh Omar is UMNO Selangor chief, Muhyuddin will be BN election chief, Nong Chik is FT UMNO king. The only professional face to it is Idris Jala. He would probably have very little say in the committee and his name is included merely to make the committee looks “professional”. If the main issues are about addressing potential water shortage in the best interest of the state, shouldn’t SSG is represented in the committee? I see no basis for agriculture minister and FT minister or the DPM to be in that committee. Their presence is irrelevant to the issues other than to continue to play politics.
- Peter Chin said that SSG will call on the need basis. Why? This is how BN normally works. They called the relevant parties and said that the committee has discussed and matters have been agreed upon. The idea is information is shared on need to know basis. How unprofessional can our government be? BN leaders should put politics aside.
- The people of Selangor and KL should come to the front and send a very strong message to BN. The people in this country can no longer tolerate business cronyism. People are fed up. In the last few months the SSG has been defensive and has been quiet. BN and the media ran the story of ‘artificially created water shortage” continuously in the last 2 months. We must return the water business back to the state. Why should this business be left in the hands of TSR? There are 7 million people in Selangor and TSR is merely a small fraction of the 7 million. Unfortunately BN sees the need to protect the interest of 1 man. Are the people in Selangor deaf or blind? Are they so ignorant?
- I urged BN to stop playing politics now. Stop all this nonsense now. Enough is enough. BN may have the necessary publicity machinery to hoodwink the people but they failed to realize that their actions are simply raising hatred among the people against them. My own circles of friends who are staunch UMNO members now begin to question the rational of their party leadership. SSG has the people. They have the money. Let them run the water business. It is not PKR running the business but the government of Selangor that was democratically elected by the people. BN should focus on bringing people to love them for the good deed that they do and not otherwise. Tony Pua claims that Syabas has become a threat to our national security. I disagree with him. BN and their business cronies are the threat to the nation security. They are trying to create chaos in the country. The planned chaos is designed to start in Selangor.
