Hanif panel wants to meet Bar Council and Ambiga
The Independent Advisory Panel to investigate the commotion during the Bersih 3.0 rally last April 28 today send a letter to the Bar Council and Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan for an appointment to discuss the incidents that happened on that day.
Panel head Hanif Omar, said the move was among efforts made by the panel to get a clearer picture of what really happened.
"It is my hope that they, who were the key participants, can meet us at a place and time convenient to them.
"Otherwise, our report will not be a comprehensive one," he told reporters after chairing the 10th meeting of the panel in Putrajaya today.
Hanif said the meeting was held to enable the panel members to provide suggestions to improve procedures on handling of such a rally in future, as well as to listen to parties concerned on problems and need to hold gatherings.
He said the panel had so far recorded statements from about 50 witnesses, including four today who comprised a policeman, two media photographers and a university student taking a photography course.
"We are getting closer to understanding the scenario," he added.
