PKR to go on cheaper cars drive during Hari Raya

PKR announced today it will take advantage of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration for its campaign to abolish the excise duty on cars by distributing 40,000 car stickers on the issue in the Klang Valley.

The stickers will be distributed by party members at the Sungai Besi, Gombak and Jalan Duta toll plazas in conjunction with the balik kampung season, PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli said today.

NONE"We hope that those whobalik kampung (return to their hometowns) during this holiday season can spread the campaign message to the whole country," Rafizi said.

He and Pantai Jerejak assemblyperson Sim Tze Sin (left) will officially launch the 'reduce car price' campaign at the Petaling Jaya PKR headquarters on Wednesday.

"We will also launch the campaign car - a Proton Tiara of 15 years - which will be used to visit certain areas with the stickers," Rafizi said.

Pakatan Rakyat is taking up the reduction of car prices as anelection campaign issue, arguing that households in Malaysia are in debt because of the unusually high car prices caused by the high excise duty.
