KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 — Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said the Selangor government would take on Universiti Selangor’s (UNISEL) debts owed to the company in charge of the university’s hostels, reported The Star.
Khalid did not say when it would take effect, only that the process would take some time.
He was quoted saying, “"Unisel cannot afford to pay the company managing the hostels because collection received from student intakes alone were not enough. The state government will take over this cost in due time."
Several thousands of students were reported to have been denied entry to the hostels due to Unisel’s failure to pay management fees to the hostel management company.
