The Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence Department, the Welfare Services Department and the police were involved in the evacuation effort.
KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims evacuated in Lower Perak increased from 256 since Saturday to 265 today while those evacuated in Malacca increased from 104 to 115.
Lower Perak police chief ACP Goh Kok Liang said last night nine more flood victims were evacuated.
Among the villages affected are Kampung Batu 8, Changkat Jong (168 people from 50 families), Kampung Selabak Luar (63 people from 18 families) and Kg Degong, Sungai Rambai (34 people from 9 families).
The flood victims are currently housed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Changat Jong and two surau, one each in Kampung Selabak and Kampung Kunci Ayer Empat and the Sungai Manik multipurpose hall.
The affected villages were still under one metre of water after Sungai Bidor overflowed its banks following heavy downpour for the past few days, he said when contacted today.
The Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence Department, the Welfare Services Department and the police were involved in the evacuation effort.
In Malacca, a state flood operations room spokesman said those evacuated in Malacca were from Jasin and Melaka Tengah.
The evacuated victims are currently placed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tehel, Kesang Barat JKKK Operations centre and Dewan Demang Husin in Bukit Katil.
