Lembah Pantai postal voters still on roll despite objection

The 383 postal voters in Lembah Pantai previously objected to during the display of the quarterly supplementary roll have found themselves back on the electoral roll, said Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.

However, the PKR vice-president said that instead of being registered at the Bukit Jalil temporary holding facility, they are now registered as postal voters at the Travers police station.

“In early 2011, I had found that the Bukit Jalil temporary holding facility, 12km away from Lembah Pantai and located in the Bandar Tun Razak constituency in 2008, was included as a Lembah Pantai postal voting centre.

“After making several objections to the Election Commission, I am now shocked to find the latest data indicating that the 383 postal voters have been moved from the Bukit Jalil temporary holding facility to the Travers police station,” she said.

NONENurul Izzah (right) said that she has tried to meet with the Federal Territories Election Commission chief on issues pertaining to the electoral roll in Lembah Pantai, but the appointment has been postponed several times.

“So we have met with (Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department) Mohd Nazri (Abdul Aziz), who has instructed the Election Commission chairperson and his officers to come to meet with us in Parliament on Nov 19 to address these issues,” she said.

Nurul Izzah and other interested MPs will be submitting their complaints on the electoral roll for the EC to prepare their answers by tomorrow.
