Enraged Cho Ha slams Ronnie over AES

Enraged Cho Ha slams Ronnie over AES
PUTRAJAYA - Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha today slammed the Selangor government's plan to remove or cover up two Automated Enforcement System (AES) cameras for recording traffic offences in the state, as irresponsible and seeking cheap publicity.
He said the Pakatan Rakyat state government did not care for the safety of road users, but only wanted to gain cheap publicity and to fish for votes with the general election approaching.
"I will say that is a very irresponsible state government, especially (state Local Government, Study and Research Committee chairman) Ronnie Liu who is getting cheap publicity every day.
"In Selangor, 1,070 people died in road accidents last year. Did Ronnie Liu offer sympathy to the victims' families?
"He couldn't care less. What he only wants is cheap publicity.
"The people should know that if they (Pakatan Rakyat) are really a responsible and caring government, they should be more concerned about those involved in road accidents," he told a press conference, here, today.
Kong was earlier asked to comment on Liu's reported statement that he wanted to remove the AES camera at Km6.6 of the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) and another at Km301.6 (northbound) of the North-South Expressway.
He also chided Liu for issuing different statements on the same matter just to gain publicity, especially through the Chinese media.
"First, he (Liu) said he wanted to remove the AES cameras, then he said he wanted to cover them up. (He should) make up his mind on what he wants to do," he said.
