KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 — MIC leaders of all ranks have been urged to adopt social networking sites and alternative media, as the most effective way to inform the public of their social well-being activities.
In making the call, MIC vice-president Datuk S. K. Devamany said, MIC leaders who are using traditional media as a platform to reach the Indian community, should start to update their activities in Facebook and Twitter.
“I should say that Twitter is the most effective and viral way your activities can reach the people. Even our prime minister and other important leaders are tweeting almost everyday.
“The method has been proven to be effective as even United States President Barack Obama has started to tweet on his daily activities,” he said.
Devamany, who is also deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department, was addressing about 1,500 delegates at the party's 66th General Assembly here today.
He stressed that only by informing the public of the daily activities of MIC leaders, could confidence on the party be regained for a better mandate in the coming general election.
Devamany said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had more than one million followers, through his Twitter page, @NajibRazak. — Bernama
