POSTINGS ON NET: Certain parties out to tarnish image of govt, says Mustapa
KOTA BARU: KELANTAN Umno yesterday called on the 80,000 federal civil servants in in the state to help stop certain parties tarnishing the image of the Federal Government.
State Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said their assistance was needed as there were quarters which had posted slanderous allegations on the Internet against the Federal Government.
He said the postings, including those on Facebook, covered various topics, most of which were on the petroleum royalty issue.
"Kelantan has the highest number of federal civil servants in the country, comprising teachers and members of the security forces," he said when launching Wisma Persekutuan's Open Day here.
Mustapa, who is also international trade and industry minister, said Federal Government employees could help repair the damage by setting the record straight.
"I would like to ask them to help stop this menace by restoring the confidence of those influenced by such slander."
Mustapa said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had announced the setting up of a committee to handle the petroleum royalty issue and asked the states involved to send their representatives to sit on the panel.
"Kelantan has announced the names of its representatives for the committee.
"However, the state government has made many slanderous remarks which are not right. It is better for them to discuss the matter with us civilly."
