BENTONG -- Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties today pledged to give their full commitment to ensure the BN government obtained the people's mandate in the upcoming 13th general election.
Component party leaders also expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to bring the nation towards Vision 2020.
MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the people should continue to put their confidence in the national transformation plans being implemented by the Prime Minister.
"Our country is now on the right track and the people need not elect the opposition, which is unsure of being able to bring peace and prosperity to the people," he said when speaking at the 1Malaysia People's Assembly that was attended by over 30,000 people at Dataran Karak, here.
The assembly was opened by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Also present was Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.
MIC president Datuk Seri G Palanivel told the assembly that MIC was now fully prepared to face the 13th general election.
He was confident the Indian community would give their mandate to BN government and MIC would serve as an effective 'army' in BN to assist all its candidates.
Meanwhile, People's Progressive Party (PPP) president Datuk Seri M Kayveas said the people need not gamble their future by giving the mandate to the opposition in the general election.
"The BN government has proven its capability in managing the country's administration for more than 55 years," he said.
Gerakan president Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon who also spoke at the assembly said the people needed to fully believe in the BN government for a more prosperous future as the 1Malaysia concept of BN was solely for people.
