Deepak: Give me immunity, I'll tell all at stadium

Carpet merchant Deepak Jaikishan said he was prepared to reveal all the dirt from his dealings involving powerful personalities in the government at Pakatan Rakyat’s mega rally tomorrow if the opposition coalition can guarantee him immunity if it comes to power.

“If they give me immunity tonight, tomorrow I will go on stage and reveal everything at Stadium Merdeka,” he told Malaysiakini in an interview tonight.

azlan“They don't need to put anything in writing, they just need to come up to the press, announce... (that) I will be given the status of state witness and I will be fully protected by the Whistleblowers Act, I’m all the way... out (with everything),” he said.

He added that he will be at Stadium Merdeka tomorrow to witness Pakatan’s Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat (People’s Uprising Rally).

Asked why he was seeking immunity from Pakatan which in not in power instead of the present government, Deepak said he was confident that the opposition coalition would come to power.

“I am ready, I am willing, I have the courage to do it (the expose)... I call on Anwar Ibrahim, Abdul Hadi Awang, Tok Guru Nik Aziz (Nik Mat), Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, please give me this undertaking - that I will be a state witness - I will go all the way out with every corrupt misdeeds of the present government that I know of.”
The Whistleblowers Act, passed in 2010, provides protection to informers with immunity from civil and criminal action.

‘BN wouldn’t dare prosecute me’

While conceding he had not been an “angel” in the past, Deepak said he was not interested in getting immunity from the present government as they will not dare to prosecute him.

“For the present government, in order to prosecute me, they will have to prosecute themselves because all the evidence will point to themselves,” he said.

Presently, Deepak said he did not approve of PKR’s expose concerning him as they were not accurate as only he had complete documentary evidence.

azlanThe businessperson, who is closely linked to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his family, had previously attacked PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli for trying to score political points with the expose.

However, Deepak conceded that he may not have been clear in what he meant when asking for support from the opposition, explaining that all he wanted was for protection.

“We have a common goal but we must work together, we can’t be coming from various directions because it confuses the public.

“I appeal to Anwar, I have the facts, I have the complete documentary evidence, please allow me to work together with a senior member of your team who has experience in divulging this in a consistent and proper manner based on facts and documents,” he said.

Deepak had since November last year made a serious of corruption allegations against Najib, including allegedly paying off the premier's family for a land deal and getting private investigator P Balasubramaniam to reverse his statutory declaration linking Najib to murdered Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Malaysiakini had attempted to get a response from the premier’s wife Rosmah Mansor who was also implicated by Deepak, but was blocked by bodyguards. Najib has also yet to respond to the allegations.
