Deepak pledges ‘root to fruit’ exposé

Carpet man to hold a series of nine press conferences every other day, detailing the sordid events involving the second SD and his dealings with Najib's family.
UPDATED
PETALING JAYA: Carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan has vowed to hold a series of nine press conferences exposing every detail in the saga involving the tampered statutory declaration, the Raja Ropiaah Abdullah land issue and his dealings with the family of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
Deepak said he was aware that the saga had grown even more complicated as of late due to the “interference” of PKR’s director of strategy, Rafizi Ramli, as well as “false” copies of the Black Rose booklet which is now making its rounds on the Internet.
“I’m starting a series of nine media conferences every other day where I will go to the base of where this started, from the roots all the way to the fruit itself,” Deepak told reporters at a conference at the Le Meridian hotel here.
“If anything I say turns out to be false or a lie, I’m ready to go before God. But I swear that everything I tell the public will be the truth.”
He explained that the reason he has to hold so many press conferences was because the story was lengthy and he did not want to leave a single stone unturned.
“If I give just a pinch, then this thing will be left hanging. So I need to give the whole event.”
He said that once he had completed the nine press conferences, he would bow out of the limelight for good.
‘Black Rose booklet not mine’
He also denied having written the 26-page e-book “The Black Rose” which was circulated to the media last Friday evening.
The book chronicles the events leading to the reversal of P Balasubramaniam’s first statutory declaration, as well as the land deal Deepak had struck with Wanita Umno Selangor chief Raja Ropiaah.
“I’d like to make it very clear the book that is circulating online is not mine. I believe there are  elements out there who are trying to confuse the public on what is the true story and what is really happening with regard to all my exposures,” said Deepak.
Deepak explained he was all set to release the first of his book series last week, but was derailed by Rafizi’s claims that he had spent RM13 million in jewellery for Rosmah Mansor.
Unlike the fake copies available online, Deepak said the real book included copies of “real documents, SMSes and e-mails” and would be launched personally by him as soon as his lawyer had proof read it.
“I promised to launch the book last week, but two hours before the launch, this fellow comes out with stories of the RM13 million. Then someone launches a book and claims it’s by me. So I think there are parties that are trying to take opportunity of this situation,” said Deepak.
He pointed to the poor English and use of nicknames in the booklet as proof it was written by someone else.
“In my interviews, I refer to their real names as it truly is. But this book changed the names, so if I were to release a book, logically, why should I be afraid [to reveal the real names]?” said Deepak.
“I find it very insulting. If I were to use nicknames, I would have referred to myself as Superman, not Kapeed!” he quipped.
The book uses pseudonyms such as “Bijan” (Najib), “Black Rose” (Rosmah) and “Laba” (Bala) to disguise the characters’ true identity.
“The documents included in the booklet are also exactly the same as those available on Rafizi’s website,” added Deepak.
But he said that that did not necessarily mean he believed Rafizi was behind the fake copies.
‘Focus on cows, Rafizi’
However, Deepak implored Rafizi to cease interfering in his affairs and to stick to cows instead – a reference to the National Feedlot scandal that Rafizi had uncovered last year.
“I don’t know what Rafizi is trying to achieve right now. To me if he is going to stand for election, he should stand in Kota Belud because he belot [betrays] his party.
“Not only does he contradict what his party president say, but he is further confusing the process of the LTAT deal,” said Deepak.
A unit of LTAT investment vehicle Boustead Holdings Bhd had acquired an 80% stake in Deepak’s company, Astacanggih Sdn Bhd, for RM30 million.
Boustead Holdings had also purchased Bukit Raja land from Raja Ropiaah’s company Awan Megah for RM 160 million – more than double the original valuation of the National Defence Education Centre (Puspahanas) project, Rafizi had claimed.
But Deepak said Rafizi knew nothing of the issue and stressed that the latter was merely using it for his own political mileage.
“Rafizi says he doesn’t want me to get involved because he knows everything. But he’s not the wizard of Oz, he doesn’t know anything because he wasn’t there. I was there.
“Allow me to make this statement: I’m prepared to buy back the company and land from LTAT. They paid RM160 million… but the land is worth RM400 million,” said Deepak.
“A word of caution to Anwar: put a more senior man besides Rafizi to… enable their exposures to come out more fast,” he added.
Deepak said that while he hoped PKR would “continue to support” him, he was requesting that the “future prime minister” would ask Rafizi to stop interfering in his affairs.
“I don’t trust him and I don’t think he’s doing anything good for the party,” he said.
