DIGGING UMNO'S GRAVE: Mahathir - the most poisonous man in Malaysia:

DIGGING UMNO'S GRAVE: Mahathir - the most poisonous man in Malaysia:
THIS week saw a slew of stories exposing former premier Mahathir Mohamad’s dirty political hands – using government institutions to cheat to remain in political power.
It shows his shady past abuses of power is fast catching up with him and the rakyat are no more his obeying robot, like when he ruled for 22 years in the past.
What is disgusting is that this 87-year-old stubborn mule does not know when to stop his evil agenda to divide Malaysians with the use of racial and religious issues.
Malaysia is perhaps the only country in the world where racist politicians can divide the people with just one word – Allah (God). It’s a word used by the world long before the founding of Islam.
So, how can certain pea brain Muslims claim the word is exclusive to them and thus cannot be used by non-Muslims.
The same pea brain Muslims in Malaysia propagate that if the world is used by non-Muslims, the Muslims will be confused. Are they saying the Malays are so stupid and weak in their faith?
This Allah issue has been raised once too often by politicians that the rakyat has become so sick and tired of it.
Whether the issue was raised by the Opposition DAP or PAS or by Barisan Nasional (BN)’s Umno, MCA or MIC, it was all started by the racist BN government when it banned the use of the word. So, the blame must go to the racist BN.
Dangerous politician
Why then is Mahathir now being targeted by the rakyat and critics?
Mahathir is now seen as the most dangerous politician in Malaysia, following the expose that he has an estimated accumulated wealth of US$44 billion (more than RM132 billion).
This makes him more powerful than Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Yes. Mahathir is no more the prime minister of Malaysia and thus does not have the institutions of government at his disposal.
But the enormous wealth at his disposal would enable him to engineer chaos and inflict much damage to the people and country, politically and socio-economically.
Mahathir can, without an iota of doubt, finance activities to stir the peoples’ emotions to suit his divide-and-rule agenda.
An example is the Taliban-like Perkasa, an ultra-Malay non-governmental organisation (NGO) headed by the racist Ibrahim Ali.
Mahathir is Perkasa adviser and is thus the man funding the NGO’s activities. One would be naïve to think that Perkasa members and youths are going to the streets as volunteers.
Of course they are paid for their “services”
Very worried

Mahathir must be a very worried and desperate octogenarian as the next 13th General Election closes in, with the 222-seat Parliament set for automatic dissolution on April 28.
Mahathir’s fear is Parliamentary Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, the de facto Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leader who was his deputy premier from 1993 to 1998.
Mahathir’s evil regime had used trumped up sodomy and abuse of power charges to remove Anwar as his deputy after a fall-out during the 1997-1998 global financial and currency crisis.
Mahathir had wanted to use the national coffer to bail out his corporate cronies, including his son Mirzan’s Konsortium Perkapalan Berhad (KPB) now MISC Bhd, who were all then facing liquidity woes.
Anwar, then also the finance minister, refused to misuse taxpayers’ money to bail out the cronies and was thus thrown into jail for six years.
The head of the Election Commission is an Umno member. Can there be fair elections?
Naib strikes back at Dr M with RCI

Najib, who approved the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Mahathir’s illegal operation to rope in foreigners for political support in Sabah to down the then Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) government, is seen as striking back for all the recent embarrassing exposes.
Malaysians see Mahathir’s hand in Deepak “Carpetman” Jaikishan’s damning revelations linking Najib and his infamous diamond-greedy wife Rosmah Mansor to the Alatantuya Shaariibuu murder cum scandalous RM6.7 billion purchase of two second-hand French-made Scorpene submarines.
Former Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan, who is now suddenly singing like a canary, is also doing extensive damage to the integrity of the Royal Malaysian Police Forc and the Home Ministry helmed by Najib’s cousin Hishammuddin Hussein.
Musa had lamented political interference in police work and operations by Hishammuddin and the influence and links of the underworld with senior ranking police officers.
Mahathir’s fear and desperation are showing by the many ridiculous statements that he is now making in defence of the attacks against him.
He even called on a RCI on Merdeka citizenships, forgetting that his father, Iskandar Kutty, was also an immigrant from Kerala, India.
Read the following slew of stories and judge yourself how evil and racist Mahathir and his “hired” followers can be:

THE DEVIL IN DR M: We can't hang him, should we jail an 87-yr-old, how do we PUNISH HIM?
Written by Christopher Fernandez The sacking of deputy prime minister and finance minister, Anwar Ibrahim, in 1998, was the start of Malaysia’s real problems as the incorrigible Mahathir Mohammad sought to stay in power despite him being one of the main trigger causes of the financial meltdown across Asia back then.
You see what happened was that Mahathir, with funds sought from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), was, on the grounds of pure greed, hoping to make a killing by speculating on the currency market much to the discomfort and displeasure of Anwar.
Anwar was absolutely petrified by Mahathir’s grandiosity, but power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Mahathir as dictator of Malaysia overruled Anwar’s pleas and went ahead on his gambling spree.
Unknown to Mahathir, across the Atlantic, hedge fund supremo, George Soros was eyeing his scalp and money. The speculation by Mahathir began to go awry and much of the BNM funds were lost to Soros and the shrewd Hungarian Jew was even cheeky enough to give a US$ 500 million donation to a Russia in distress from his winnings.
The distraught Mahathir in a bold cover-up laid the blame squarely on his deputy and made him the scapegoat for his gambling tryst. But Anwar’s sacking was not unexpected. Past deputies of Mahathir such as Musa Hitam and Ghaffar Baba had met with a similar fate at the hands of the Malaysian dictator.
This was the catalyst, the trigger that launched Malaysia into real problems after seemingly a long spell of economic growth and prosperity. When this incident took place a backlash of events began to explode into action to divide and tear asunder the nation for the first time in its history.
The drama that then began to unfold
Not only was Anwar sacked from the Barisan Nasional government, a political conspiracy, as he alleged began to unfold in a most dramatic way causing charges of sodomy to be preferred against him.
This event, till today, has caused many Malaysians of all walks of life to opine differently on his guilt. But he was found guilty and sentenced to jail after a much-publicized court trial that drew the attention of the international community.
Prior to this a bashing from the then Inspector-General of Police that caused a black eye which caused a furor and sparked outrage among Malaysians and his growing number of sympathizers and supporters created a backlash and the emergence of Parti Keadilan Rakyat.
Since Anwar was incarcerated, PKR was helmed by his wife and he was envisioned by many to be the de facto leader of the new political party. From his cell in prison, Anwar was already beginning to make an impact on the psyche of Malaysians.
A string of revelations of wrongdoings by Mahathir and his cronies began to emerge to shock and rivet the attention of Malaysians and the world at large. Despite all this dirty linen being washed in public, Mahathir was hardly bothered by the ruckus as he knew that as far as he was concerned he lived above the laws of this country.
Mahathir made nonsense of all the allegations leveled against him by Anwar “despite enough proof and evidence to nail him.”
This caused Malaysians for the first time in their lives to gain a shocking insight into the way and manner in which Mahathir governed Malaysia as being a dictator who lived above the laws of the nation and did according to his whims and fancies to champion racism and Malay chauvinism.
There was never an inkling of meritocracy that was practiced by him and his government and he finally caved-in under the growing dislike of many Malaysians to retire in disgrace as the fourth prime minister of Malaysia.
A dictator never dies?
Despite having stepped down as prime minister, Mahathir busied himself to see that the governance of this country went according to his wishes by tinkering with the administration of his successor Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
By this time more and more Malaysians had had enough of the grasping menace that Mahathir had become and considered him nothing more than a public nuisance by his atrocious views and comments and remarks.
Malaysians voted with a vengeance to signal that they wanted change and reform in the 12th GE. The political alliance of PKR, PAS and DAP showed how formidable they had become by seizing power in five states of peninsular Malaysia.
Mahathir, ever the tyrannical dictator, flew into a rage and orchestrated the ouster of Badawi as prime minister to set up Najib to helm the most powerful seat of government. If Badawi was a lame duck, Najib till today has done no better than to try and suck up to the people to stay in power.
The abuses and wrongdoings of Najib and members of his cabinet along with their cronies have been leveled against them by persons far and wide but till today there has been no appropriate action taken to rectify the wrongs of their governance.
Not only Najib, but Mahathir and all the gang of thieves and their cronies are merrily functioning as people who live above the law. Any threats or accusations made against them are merely swept under the carpet by the law enforcement agencies in this country.
Mahathir, despite retiring in disgrace and his legacy starting to end up in tatters as a “bad guy” until today is recalcitrant and stubbornly refuses to let go of the governance of the country wishing instead to see his will imposed upon the people.
It looks as if a dictator never really dies, and Mr Barry Wain, influential former editor of the Asian Wall Street Journal, in a book aptly disclosed how Mahathir as dictator of Malaysia misappropriated billions of ringgit in money belonging to Malaysians when in power as prime minister.
Malaysians owe him 'big' & their money 'rightfully' belongs to him - is that so?
The reason, if read carefully for Mahathir’s behaviour problems, is owing to the fact that he believes that he is solely responsible for developing Malaysia and therefore he has to have the final word in everything.
He does not see the concerted effort and suffering and hard work of Malaysians from all across society as being the bulwark of this success and instead he sees the success and development of Malaysia as a solitary effort on his part alone.
With this thinking and being on his part, with Mahathir wanting to lay claim and hog the limelight, his megalomania being insatiable, Malaysians are under heavy oppression from the dictator who continues to throw his weight around though most Malaysians think of him as being senile and by now redundant.
Mahathir honestly believes that Malaysians owe him big and that is why he personally feels much of the wealth that has been created “rightfully” belongs to him, his cronies and sycophants.
The rest of Malaysians to him are merely spectators and should be reduced to the pedestrian level as they were merely like the cog in a wheel over which he stamped his power, will and authority.
More is to come from the dictator Mahathir Mohammad as he professes to come from a family tree that has longevity in their favor and therefore he plans to be around for as long as possible to see that he gets his and gets away with anything he wishes as dictator.
This means for Malaysians that they have to endure a sad way of life under his tyranny and oppression and they must be by now wishing that they had never endorsed him to sit in the most powerful seat in this country in the first place.
The only way to ensure that Mahathir makes a quick and permanent exit from Malaysian life is to remove BN from the seat of power as the government of the day. This should effectively shut Mahathir up and reduce him to the dustbin of history where he rightfully belongs.

From boast to downright disgrace

The modus operandi to ensure Sabah remained Umno's "fixed deposit" bordered on "treason" at the highest level and was a state-sponsored organised crime.
KOTA KINABALU: It used to be Umno’s and the Barisan Nasional’s claim, made with some swagger, that Sabah is their “fixed deposit” state. The boast was meant to convey the message to the opposition that they were untouchable. As it turned out, it was true.
The ruling coalition had indeed stuffed the ballot boxes in the state sufficiently, but not in the usual way, to ensure Sabah would always be in their corner in their bid to hang on to reins of power. But that boastful expression is coming back to haunt them.
The first week of evidence gathering by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the massive presence of illegal immigrants in the state emphasised this.
The narrative so far is that what started as a refugee problem morphed into an illegal immigrant problem and then became a policy to re-engineer the population of the state to reflect Muslim dominance from its native Christian majority origins at the founding of Malaysia in 1963.
From there it again changed shape and became an alleged illegal citizenship-for-votes project to prop up a shaky coalition government that has ruled Malaysia for more than 50 years and Sabah for almost two decades.
The modus operandi that was used to ensure Sabah became Umno’s “fixed deposit” state, bordered on state-sponsored organised crime while some would put it as “treasonous” activity at the highest government levels.
Witness after witness stated as much over the last week.
Dr M: Project IC legal
Former prime minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, under whose watch the hitherto Christian state became populated by a Muslim majority, had finally come out to admit that Project IC was true but that everything was done legally.
However, former civil servants who served during his time in power, illegal immigrants and refugees seem to contradict his statement by telling the commission of the clandestine nature of the issuance of Malaysian identification papers that led to them gaining citizenship and right to vote.
Top Sabah National Registration Department (NRD) officers spoke of an operation codenamed ‘Operation Rotten Durian’ and by all accounts this operation reached into the highest offices including those of Mahathir’s trusted aides and indeed Mahathir himself.
He seems to confirm this when he said last week: “When I was prime minister, I was in power to determine the implementation of government policies.
“The government received foreigners to be citizens if (they) fulfilled certain conditions, furthermore those who are there are not one, two days but already 20 to 30 years and they speak in Bahasa Melayu, have the right to be Malaysians.
“So the problem is when there are people who are unhappy when there are some who become Malaysians although those individuals have already long resided in Malaysia, that is what causes problems.”
Speaking at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, as the stunning nature of the RCI witness statements sank in, he repeatedly stressed that this giving of citizenships to foreigners was “within the law”.
“I never deny it (citizenships) were given. What I deny is that I did something against the law, that I will deny,” he was reported as saying.
The evidence gathered so far speaks for itself and doesn’t leave the former prime minister much room to manoeuvre in the minds of Sabahans with an eye on the elections at least but these are still early days for the RCI.
Nevertheless, much of what has been revealed at the on-going RCI is not new.
Damning confirmations
Books on the subject by well-known blogger Mutalib MD and Dr Chong Eng Leong’s ‘Lest we Forget’ with painstakingly compiled evidence stated as much.
Up to now what they said remained insinuations and allegations. The first week on the RCI public hearing must have been music to their ears.
Witnesses corroborated and added legitimacy to their claims of something rotten having taken place in the state and they are vindicated.
It is left to be seen if Umno and its leaders will still dare to boast of Sabah as their “fixed deposit” state in the coming general elections. If anything, that brag has become a slap in the face for Sabahans.

MAKING A CLOWN OF HIMSELF: Have RCI for Merdeka citizenship - Dr M
BUKIT MERTAJAM – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has proposed a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the granting of citizenships to one million foreign immigrants in the Federation of Malaya, before it gained independence in 1957.
However, the former prime minister (picture) emphasised that it was merely a suggestion, because any such investigation should be comprehensive and not focused on just one side.
“I’m just suggesting it, and not really serious about (implementing) it. But if there’s an investigation it must be comprehensive, it’s not fair to focus on only one matter,” he was quoted as saying by state news agency Bernama.
He was speaking to reporters after delivering the keynote address at the ‘2013 Penang Malays Economic and Education Transformation’ convention at Universiti Teknologi Mara, here today.
He had been asked to comment on criticisms levelled at him for granting citizenships to 200,000 foreign immigrants in Sabah, during the time he was prime minister.
Saying the 200,000 foreign immigrants had been in Sabah for more than 20 years, spoke Malay and had assimilated local culture, he added: “From a legal standpoint they were eligible for the citizenships.”
Furthermore, he said the granting of citizenships to one million foreign immigrants who came to Malaysia before independence was done by former first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj even though it was not provided in the law at the time.
“This situation came about because the Malays are generous and prepared to dilute their power, and this is very different from what happened in Sabah because they had the right to have citizenships,” he said.
Earlier in his address, he urged the Malays to weigh matters before making a decision and not just follow their emotions and feelings which could jeopardise the nation.
“There are those who are so obsessed with their leaders that even when they (the leaders) are wrong, they support them. So we must be very careful in not letting ourselves be influenced by such emotions and feelings,” he said.
Also present at the convention were Dr Mahathir’s wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali and Penang Perkasa president Yusof Suhaimi Mohd Yatim.
The ongoing RCI on Sabah’s illegal immigrants has seen testimony that government officials were ordered to give blue citizenship identity cards and temporary identity receipts to Filipinos, Indonesians, Indians and Pakistanis before the 1994 elections. -themalaysianinsider.com

1 MILLION "UNQUALIFIED" PEOPLE: Will spineless Najib let Dr M defame Tunku & his own dad?
Written by Lim Kit Siang
The first month of the New Year 2013 had just passed the half-way mark but Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s signature 1Malaysia policy had already suffered two fatal blows – firstly, the Sharifah-Bawani “Listen, listen, listen!” diatribe and secondly, former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir’s defamation of Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman and one million citizens of the Merdeka generation.
The infamous Sharifah-Bawani “Listen, listen, listen!” video clips is the latest proof of the continuing and insidious legacy of the 22-year draconian Mahathir rule, debunking the claim that the Najib premiership has shaken off all Mahathirish past excesses and now subscribes to the belief that “The era the government knows best is over”.
But what has shaken public confidence to its very roots not only in the integrity of national institutions but the commitment of the present government to 1Malaysia policy is the defamation of Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman and one million citizens of the Merdeka generation by the longest-serving Prime Minister when brazenly trying to justify Project IC or Project M which had perpetrated the capital crime and treason of “citizenship-for-votes” scam in Sabah to shore up UMNO’s political power in the state.
Najib spelt out the definition of 1Malaysia in the 1Malaysia Government Transformation Programme Roadmap in January 2010, which states:
“The goal of 1Malaysia is to make Malaysia more vibrant, more productive and more competitive – and ultimately a greater nation: a nation where, it is hoped, every Malaysian perceives himself or herself as Malaysian first, and by race, religion, geographical region or socio-economic background second and where the principles of 1Malaysia are woven into the economic, political and social fabric of society.”
But one question cries out for answer, even if we put aside for the moment the open repudiation by Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin of the 1Malaysia policy when he declared that he was “Malay first, Malaysian second” and the failure of the Cabinet and the UMNO/BN Supreme Councils to publicly endorse the 1Malaysia policy despite four years of Najib premiership.
The question is: How can the Malaysian people take Najib’s 1Malaysia policy as a serious policy to make Malaysia more vibrant, productive and competitive where every Malaysian perceives himself or herself as Malaysian first and race second, when the efforts in nation-building not only by Bapa Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman, but also one million citizens of the Merdeka generation could be summarily dismissed and even defamed – as Mahathir did when he alleged that Tunku had done worse than Project IC or Project M by giving citizenship to one million unqualified people in peninsula Malaysia, and protesting: “Why is it when he does it, it is not wrong, and when I do it, it’s wrong?”
Dr M lied for 2 decades
Instead of defaming Tunku and the one million citizens of the Merdeka generation, Mahathir should account to Sabahans and Malaysians why he had lived a public lie for two decades – ten years as PM and ten years in retirement – denying the existence of Project IC or Project M which perpetrated the “citizenship-for-votes” scam?
Malaysians, however, are baffled by Najib’s response on Thursday after the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council meeting to the revelations of “citizenship-for-votes” scam by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into illegal immigrants in Sabah and Mahathir’s reaction.
In fact, what Najib did not say is more significant that what he said.
While saying that it is still premature to draw conclusions from the RCI as it is still at its initial stage with 167 more witnesses to be called, Najib studiously avoided comment on Mahathir’s defamation of Tunku and one million citizens of Merdeka generation.
Is Najib implying support for Mahathir’s defamation of Tunku in giving one citizenship to one million unqualified people – which would not only implicate Bapa Malaysia but also Najib’s father, Tun Razak?
Let Najib without delay clear the name not only of Tunku but also his father Tun Razak and openly dissociate himself from Mahathir’s defamation of Tunku, Tun Razak and one million citizens of the Merdeka generation.

‘Probe pre-independence immigrants’

If the government can form a RCI to probe citizenships given to about 200,000 Sabah immigrants, why not on those pre-independence immigrants? asks the former PM
PERMATANG PAUH: Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamed cynically suggested the federal government form a royal commission of inquiry to probe if the one million “foreigners”, who were given citizenship during independence, were entitled to it.
He suggested for the commission to probe ancestral backgrounds of the “foreigners” to determine on whether they deserved their citizenship.
If the government can form a commission to probe the citizenship given to some 200,000 Sabah immigrants, he asked on “why not on those pre-independence immigrants?”
He told this at a crowded hall when officiating a Perkasa convention on “Penang Malays Economic and Education Transformation” in UiTM campus here today.
Nonetheless he said he was not seriously demanding for such commission, but only wanted certain amount of fair play in such inquiries.
“I’m not serious about it. But they must be fair,” the country’s fourth premier told a press conference later.
Dr Mahathir seemed clearly frustrated by mounting criticisms against him over allegations of a citizenship-for-votes scheme in Sabah that occurred in the 1990s during his premiership.
He said Sabah’s illegal immigrants deserved their citizenships given that the law allowed for it if a person had stayed in the country for more than 10 years.
“It was a co-incidence that they were given citizenship during election time,” Mahathir told newsmen.
Earlier in his keynote address, he said pre-independence immigrants should be grateful to the Malays for their citizenships, given by first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman.
Unlike natives of Myanmar and some African nations, he said the Malaya natives, both pribumis and bumis, did not chase out the immigrants when then Malaya got its independence from the British colonial masters.
Ungrateful immigrants out to rid Malay privileges
He said the Malays generously allowed the immigrants to be citizens, speak their languages and practise their respective cultures, something that even neighbouring Thai and Indonesian natives failed to do.
Although Malays constituted 80% of Malaya’s voting population during independence time, he claimed that they willingly shared power with the immigrants even though it would reduce their vote bank to 60% and weaken their own political strength.
“We allowed the immigrants to flourish among us and let them even to dominate the economy. We also did not stop their language and cultural growth,” said Mahathir.
However, instead of being grateful to Malay kindness, he lamented that the immigrants were now plotting to remove the Malay privileges.
Political power aside, he said the Malays only wanted 30% of the economic share, while others still have 70%.
“But they even want to seize Malay political power now,” cautioned Mahathir.
He hinted that this was a possibility due to Malay disunity caused by PAS and a certain power crazed Malay leader from Permatang Pauh (Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim).
Claiming that Malays were once strongly united under a single Umno umbrella, he blamed both for causing the Malays to split to three and weakening their political strength.
He called on voters not to be emotional, but to be wise in choosing the right government in the next general election.
He added that those who can’t use the brain to think wisely were equivalent to animals. “Malays must back Umno and Barisan Nasional to strengthen their political position.
“If you choose wrongly, you will face dire consequences,” he warned.
Burn ‘Allah’ Bibles, Perkasa chief to Muslims

Proclaiming he is not instigating communal tensions, Ibrahim Ali says it's the only way to stop non-Muslims from stirring sensitivities
PERMATANG PAUH: Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has called on Muslims to seize and burn copies of Bibles which contain the term “Allah” or other Arabic religious words.
Stressing that he was not instigating communal tension, the Pasir Mas MP insisted that it was the only way to stop non-Muslims from stirring the sensitivities and sentiments of the majority of population in the country.
He said certain non-Muslim groups were out to provoke the Muslims by using the term “Allah” or any other Arabic religious words in the Bible.
Under the Non-Islamic Religion (Control on Expansion Among Muslims) Act 1988, he said non-Muslims are prohibited from using several Arabic religious terms, including Allah, in their prayers or scriptures.
“Muslims must unite to protect their religion. They must seize those Bibles, including the Malay editions, which contained the term Allah and other Arabic religious terms, and burn them.
“This is the way to show our anger against disrespect to our sensitivity,” he told a press conference after delivering his presidential speech at a Perkasa convention here today.
‘Pre-election tactic’
Held at UiTM campus, the convention was on ‘Economic and Education Transformation of Penang Malays’.
Ibrahim was referring to a police report lodged by Persatuan Mukabuku Pulau Pinang this week alleging that two men have distributed Bibles to Muslims pupils at the entrance of a secondary school in Jelutong town on the island.
He said it was wrong for non-Muslims to distribute Bibles to Muslims as such activities were also
banned under the 1988 Act.
He said certain non-Muslim groups dared to infringe the law to stir Muslim religious sentiments merely to fish for votes in the forthcoming general election.
He claimed that their pre-election tactic was to provoke Muslims to be busy in a polemic among themselves on religious issues, such as using “Allah” in the Christian holy book, Bible.
“This is a deliberate attempt to divert the Muslim attention from political issues,” said Ibrahim.
Stop Perkasa or lose votes, warns MIC
FMT Staff
| January 19, 2013
The ruling coalition must take immediate steps to curtail Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa if it wants to win over the non-Muslims voters, says Vell Paari.
PETALING JAYA: A furious MIC leader today lashed out at Malay nationalist movement Perkasa’s chief Ibrahim Ali for fanning religious and communal tension by provoking potential violence against non-Muslims.
MIC strategic director S Vell Paari said the government must take criminal action against Ibrahim immediately to stop the situation from getting out of hand.
“He should not be allowed to go on saying what he wants and wherever he wants and in the presence of whoever it may be to intimidate and threaten any Malaysian, let it be Muslims or non Muslims,” Vell Paari said today.
“To incite a criminal act against a fellow Malaysian due to religious difference is criminal in nature and action should be taken against him.”
He also urged the Barisan Nasional leadership to immediately clarify it’s stand on Perkasa.
“First and foremost he is a nobody and not a decision or policy maker in BN. He can’t be allowed to go on pretending that he is speaking on behalf of the BN.
“And to see him making such provocative remarks in the presence of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad is not going to look good on BN, especially with elections just around the corner,” he said.
He said people like Ibrahim should be isolated and made known that Malaysia has moved forward, and not stuck in a time warp.
He also said that he would be urging his party leadership to clearly state their stand against Perkasa to the BN leadership.
Vell Paari was responding to Ibrahim’s call earlier today for Muslims to seize and burn copies of Bibles which contain the term “Allah” or other Arabic religious words.
Stressing that he was not instigating communal tension, the Pasir Mas MP insisted that it was the only way to stop non-Muslims from stirring the sensitivities and sentiments of the majority of population in the country.
Ibrahim had said certain non-Muslim groups were out to provoke the Muslims by using the term “Allah” or any other Arabic religious words in the Bible.
He said this at the Perkasa conference in Penang today. The chief guest to the conference was Mahathir.
Vell Paari also had a word of advise for Mahathir.
“Please enjoy your retirement and please stop making life difficult for Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak who is working his heart out to fix the mistakes that was done in the past.
“Your recognition of Perkasa is acting detrimental to the effort of Najib and BN,” he said.
Anwar wants more inter-faith understanding
K Pragalath
| January 19, 2013
The de facto Pakatan leader proposes inter-faith understanding to overcome the controversy on the usage of Allah by non-Muslims.
KAJANG: Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim today emphasised on the need for Malaysians to have inter-faith understanding to avoid religious confusion.
“When I was the deputy prime minister, I organised an international forum on Islam and Confucianism. There was no problem,” he said in response to a question related to the Allah controversy.
The controversy over the use of Allah’s name recurred when Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng – in his Christmas address last year – said that Christians should be allowed to use Allah’s name.
The controversy first occured early last year when there was an uproar against the usage of Allah’s name in Malay Bibles, predominantly used by the native Christians in Sabah and Sarawak.
Pakatan Rakyat has maintained the stand that everyone is allowed to use Allah’s name even though PAS’ Syura Council recently decided against Pakatan’s stand.
Early this month, the Selangor sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah decreed that non-Muslims are not allowed to use the term Allah.
“To deny the right of non-Muslims to use the Allah term, that cannot be done,” said Anwar to a crowd of more than 100 people during a forum organised by Anwar Ibrahim Club entitled “Anwar meets The Young”.
Commenting further on the issue, he highlighted the hypocrisy of an Umno leader who owns an international liquor company.
“You say that non-Muslims cannot use the term Allah but you do not advise against San Miguel Brewery owner,” Anwar said.
He added that if there were attempts to Christianise Muslims, there are sufficient laws to deal with such issues. He also urged Muslims to deepen their faith in Islam.
He also said that his statement would be manipulated by the Umno-linked media, Utusan Malaysia. “They would report this as Anwar goes against Sultan’s decree.”
The hudud issue
Anwar was also asked on the differences among Pakatan partners on the hudud issue. While the DAP is against hudud, PAS is however adamant to implement the Islamic law.
Anwar said that there was a need to build consensus and understanding on the issue.
“For Muslims we accept the Quran as a revelation and we do not dispute it. The non-Muslims have to understand this.
“How do we implement? We cannot implement by force. In Pakatan Rakyat we do not deny the right of others. It must be based on consensus,” he said.
He also revealed about the Pakatan supreme council meeting on the issue.
“We had a meeting from 8.30pm until 12.30am. It is a culture unheard of in BN. PAS will not change its stand but they have assured us that they will not pressure others into accepting it.
“The DAP is against it and wants to debate it. We allow this (to build further understanding),” said Anwar.
