KL112 is no big deal, says Khairy

Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said the People's Uprising Rally (KL112) was "no big deal" as his party has gathered more people before.

He said the total number of people who attended Umno's 66th anniversary celebration last year, which lasted 13 days, surpassed those who attended the rally.

NONE“So to us, it’s no big deal. If we (take account of) all our crowd (numbers), it’s much more than theirs,” said the Khairy.

Khairy, who is also the Rembau MP, said this during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

On turnout, Khairy said that Pakatan Rakyat had failed to gather one million people as targeted and that they knew of this before hand.

He said this was the reason why Pakatan refused to use an offer by the 100,000 capacity Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil to use their venue.

"With the amount that they have, Bukit Jalil would hardly be full... the field alone (can accommodate) 30,000. So the field will be empty if they went to Bukit Jalil," he said.
Khairy claimed that there was “finger-pointing at each other behind the scenes” as PAS blamed DAP for not mobilising more non-Malays to attend the event.

Nevertheless, he said the rally had proved the success of the transformation programmes led by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as the rally was held under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

PAS bows to political reality on ‘Allah’ issue

On a separate matter, Khairy criticised PAS for bowing to political reality as the party’s Syura Council has ruled that ‘Allah’ cannot be used in non-Muslim Bibles.

He said that this is because PAS sees that the majority of Muslims in the country do not support other religions using the word in their Bible, and they were forced to make such a decision to prevent the loss of support by the Muslims.

“This showed that PAS has no principles, and always flip-flops because of the calculation of political reality,” he said.
