Pakatan wants PM to 'tepati janji' over Jan 12 gathering

Opposition pact Pakatan Rakyat wants Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to hold true to his promise to allow mass gatherings at Stadium Merdeka and green-light their Jan 12 Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat (People's Uprising Rally).

“We are confident that the PM will ‘tepati janji’ (keep his word),” said PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu who heads the rally’s organising committee, making a pun of BN’s ‘Janji Ditepati’ (Promises Delivered) slogan.
He said this when asked what will Pakatan do if their application to hold their rally at the iconic stadium is rejected.
The PM made the promise prior to the massive Bersih 3.0 rally last year.

The premier has asked the Bersih steering committee to reconsider their street rally and hold it at stadiums like Stadium Merdeka instead.

Speaking at a press conference in Petaling Jaya today, Mohamad, popularly known as Mat Sabu said that his committee has sent in notices to relevant authorities and the stadium management.

He hoped that they will receive the good news soon.

The massive rally will mark the end of a nationwide tour by the opposition which held mass rallies across Malaysia in previous months on the same theme.
