PAS: We’ll assist police in probe

Party pledges full cooperation in police investigations into 'violation' of rally rules during Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat.
PETALING JAYA: PAS said today it will give its full cooperation to the police in the latter’s probe into three alleged violations of rally rules under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
PAS’ deputy president Mohamad Sabu said this in response to Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad’s statement yesterday that police will investigate three breaches of the Act.
The three are bringing along children below the age of 15, placards and banners with seditious words and for failing to ensure that no more than 30,000 people attended the rally.
The three were among 27 conditions laid out to the organisers of Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat last Saturday.
“We can discuss and we will give full cooperation to the police,” said Mohamad Sabu, better known as Mat Sabu, today. “We will assist them with their investigation as best as we can.”
On Saturday, opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat made a 10-point demand to Putrajaya before some 100,000 supporters at the historic Merdeka Stadium.
Apart from free and fair elections, they want the administration of Felda to be reviewed, Sabah and Sarawak be given equal treatment, oil-producing states be given 20% of the oil royalty.
They also want all government servants to be professional in the administration of the country and for the administration to provide a healthy living environment to all Malaysians.
Bahasa Malaysia, they said, should be preserved while the usage of English upgraded and free education be provided for all Malaysians.
Pakatan also wants all political prisoners freed. The list of demands was announced by PKR’s secretary-general Saifuddin.
