Police aim for 'zero casualties' at weekend rally


Despite casualties which happened during previous rallies and protests, Bukit Aman is aiming to have “zero casualties” in this weekend’s Jan 12 rally.
 
At a media briefing held today at Bukit Aman, its corporate communication chief Ramli Mohamed Yoosaf said security is the police’s utmost priority.

“We are serious about the security and safety of everyone, including the media. Our aim is to have zero casualties of any sort this time around,” he said.
 
“At the meeting between the inspector-general of police and organisers few days ago, this matter was also discussed.

“Safety and security was the centre of discussion... (safety of) the organisers and participants,” he said.
 
“And that’s why we prohibited the participantation of children in this rally, that was made clear by the IGP, in accordance with the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
