Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi has dared the DAP to sue him for having asked it to explain a claim that it will print and distribute 100,000 copies of the Bible in Bahasa Malaysia which will include the word ‘Allah'.
“I will not apologise for this and I am not afraid with DAP's threat to sue me. We will see what happens after this,” he was quoted as saying in Utusan Malaysia.He said the DAP’s threat to sue him shows that it is “defensive” about telling the truth.
“Why does it want to sue? DAP should answer my statement. The statement was not an allegation against DAP - it asked for an explanation as to whether or not the allegation is true,” he said.
Puad had on Monday said the information had come from a source, but refused to reveal names and did not provide proof of the claim.
Based on the allegation, the copies of the Malay-language Bible are intended for distribution the states controlled by Pakatan Rakyat.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng had denied the allegation yesterday, describing it as "insane lies without any basis whatsoever".
He also demanded that Puad shows proof or withdraws his remark and offers an apology.
