Sabah Bersih chief: RCI should subpoena Mahathir
Sabah Bersih wants all the prominent federal and state government figures in office when the alleged 'citizenship-for-votes' took place, including former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, to be subpoenaed before the royal commission of inquiry on immigrants in Sabah.
"Sabah Bersih feels the RCI should introduce new witnesses and we call upon the commissioners to subpoena the following people, including Mahathir, Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman, attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail (right), Herman Luping, and KY Mustaffa.
"All of whom had served during the administration of the period of investigation for this RCI," Sabah Bersih chief Andrew Ambrose said in a video recording that was shown to journalists at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this morning.
Herman, who was former Sabah attorney-general and Mustafa, a former Sabah state secretary, are commissioners in the RCI on the Sabah immigrants.
The other commissioners are former chief judge of Sabah and Sarawak Steve Shim, former Universiti Malaysia Sabah vice-chancellor Kamaruzaman Ampon and Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation deputy chairperson Henry Chin Poy Wu.
