TV3 producer says not her job to verify Nizar’s ‘WWW 1’ tweet

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 – A TV3 senior news producer told the High Court here today that she did not do a fact-check on Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin’s tweet about the Johor Sultan winning the “WWW 1” registration number.

Rohani Ngah, who has worked for the broadcaster for 15 years, said it was her assignment editor who verified the facts before she processed the news to be broadcast on the Buletin Utama prime-news segment on May 30, last year.

“The content, facts are checked by Ing Boon Seng,” said Rohani at the High Court here today.

“Are you involved in the actual verification process?” asked TV3’s lawyer Liew Teck Huat.

“No,” replied the 39-year-old news producer.
