Selangor to send offer letter to Syabas regarding takeover
The Selangor government will be sending a letter of offer to water concessionaire Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) next week to express its intention to take over the state water supply service.
Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim (left) said that he hoped Syabas’ biggest shareholder, the federal government, would assist in the deal.
“We have prepared a letter of offer to the concessionaire, and we hope that they would not reject it based on the price factor.”
“We have repeated that the concessionaire could refer to international arbitration to get a reasonable compensation,” he told reporters in a press conference after chairing the Selangor executive council meeting.
However, Khalid refused to reveal the cost of taking over, saying that it was “sensitive” information.
