KUALA LUMPUR: Al-Ehsan Islamiah charity foundation president Datuk Seri Muhammad Ridhwan Sulaiman gave his statement at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters here at 11am Monday over the Lahad Datu incursion.
Speaking to reporters, Ridhwan said he did not know self-styled Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, the man behind the group of armed Sulu intruders who entered Sabah in February with the aim of reclaiming it.
However, Ridhwan admitted giving money to another claimant to the Sulu throne, Sultan Muedzul Lail Tan Kiram.
On Sunday, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said they were looking to contact one Muhammad Ridzwan from George Town in connection with their investigations into funding of the intrusion.
According to sources, it is believed that several other Malaysians were also being investigated for funding the Sulu militants who entered Kampung Tanduo before security forces began flushing them out on March 5.
Ridhwan was supposed to give his statement at the Dang Wangi police station but changed location at the last minute. - Star
