KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 — Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has brought down 372 flags and posters for the 13th general election (GE13) of various parties which were nailed onto trees which are public properties.
DBKL Mayor Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib said the Parliamentary constituencies involved in the enforcement were Titiwangsa, Setiawangsa, Segambut and Lembah Pantai.
“Enforcement was taken against campaign materials as they infringed the By-laws of the Local Government Act,” he said in a statement today.
He said the Election Commission only allowed campaign materials to be put up after nomination day, but it appeared that parties had made early preparations.
DBKL had been lenient so long as the posters did not endanger the public or obstruct traffic, he said.
He said DBKL was also reminding all parties to bring down the materials at a specified time after the general election. – Bernama
