DAP duo to face the sack

All DAP members who stand as independents during this general election will face the sack, said DAP disciplinary committee chairperson Tan Kok Wai.

He said that this position was already decided by the party leadership earlier.

He said that according to the party constitution, those affected can appeal the decision with 14 days.

Tan said this when contacted by Malaysiakini over Jenice Lee (above) and Sim Tong Him's candidacy as independents in the Teratai and Kota Laksamana state assembly seats respectively.

Sim (centre of photo) is also defending the Kota Melaka parliamentary seat under the DAP logo.

Asked if sacking Sim would cost DAP a parliamentary seat, Tan said that there was no choice but to sack him.

Lee was also asked about the prospect of being sacked this morning, to which she replied that the the present central executive committee (CEC) could not do so as it was suspended by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

Asked on this, Tan replied that Lee has a right to challenge the party's decision to sack her.
