Soon after it was confirmed that Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali was absent in BN's candidates list despite his vehement defence of the UMNO-led regime, a text message has been fast circulating claiming that it was all part of UMNO’s plan to fend off anger among BN component parties.
According to the SMS, Ibrahim (pic) may eventually make it as a BN candidate in Pasir Mas, after current candidate Johan Che Pa is disqualified on technicality on nomination day.
“Then, when the BN candidate is no longer legit because of technical problems, BN supporters will be asked to rally behind Ibrahim Ali. That is UMNO’s plan.
"So the Chinese, Indians and others cannot claim that Ibrahim is sponsored by UMNO,” reads the SMS.
Harakahdaily has been made to believe that the SMS is being intensely shared in Pasir Mas, where Ibrahim is the incumbent after winning it on a PAS ticket in 2008.
Yesterday, Ibrahim expressed disappointment that his organisation Perkasa's vice president Zulkifli Noordin had made it into BN’s 'winnable candidates' list.
“I don't know why. Maybe I don't look handsome enough or other reasons,” he said, adding that he would contest as independent while at the same urging voters to back the BN's choice.
Prior to this, former UMNO strongman Dr Mahathir Mohamad urged BN chairman Najib Razak to appoint Ibrahim as a BN candidate for the coming polls.
