'Missing' ex-DO Hassnar found in Kemaman

Hours after Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) lodged a police report over the alleged disappearance of former Sandakan district officer Hassnar Ebrahim, the man arrived at Kemaman last night to attend a ceramah.

According to a statement by SAMM’s director of propaganda Edy Noor Reduan this morning, Hassnar arrived in Kemaman with a friend last night.

“At about 9pm last night a representative from SAMM received a call from Hassnar saying he had arrived in Kemaman. According to Hassnar, he received a call from a ‘private number’ since arriving at the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal in Sepang on Sunday.

“In Hassnar’s experience, he had received similar calls from such numbers in the past threatening him not to speak at ceramah. Following this, he decided not to bring his handphone to avoid people from detecting him,” said Edy.

Following this, Edy said they have decided to withdraw the report which they lodged with the police yesterday afternoon.

NONEEarlier, it was reported that Hassnar, who has admitted his involvement in Project IC in Sabah in the 1980s, has reportedly been missing since Sunday.

Edy (right) lodged a police report at the Pantai police station in Kuala Lumpur yesterday afternoon.

“We have failed to contact Hassnar or his wife, as the calls have gone unanswered,” Edy said.

Edy also claimed that Hassnar's son, Serman who lives in Sandakan, has not been able to contact his parents either.

When contacted, Serman verified this.

“The last time I met my father was last Friday. I am concerned as he is one of the main witness in Project IC and is possibly a target by certain quarters to prevent him from (talking),” he said.

NONEHassnar (left), the PKR Batu Sapi division chief, had at a forum in Kuala Lumpur last month claimed that he attended a secret meeting on Project IC.

Representatives of the National Registration Department and the Immigration Department were also at the meeting, he claimed.

He said then Deputy Home Minister Megat Junid Megat Ayub had openly admitted that former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad was involved in the project to issue ‘fast-track’ identity cards to Muslim migrants.
